Course Overview:
Participation in Democracy (PID) is a semester course, which highlights important historical events and ideas related to the development of civics and political science. Students will understand the purpose and historical impact of political institutions and the principles and values of American constitutional democracy. Students will be aware of the roles, right, and responsibilities of American citizens and exercise them in civic action.
Modern History of Hawaii (MHH) is a semester course that includes topics such as changes in government, the plantation system, WWII, and contemporary issues. Students will analyze and evaluate historical developments in terms of the multiple social, political, cultural, and economic causes and effects of change in modern Hawaii.
